Important Insurance Update

Regence, Premera and Blue Cross Blue Shield

Lactation Consultants of America has temporarily paused new Blue Cross Blue Shield appointments through its network. Affected families may still request self-pay care with Nourished.

We can provide a superbill for families who would like to seek possible reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits.

Not sure what your plan covers?

Select “other or unsure” on the appointment request form. Our team will help identify the appropriate next step. Insurance coverage is not a guarantee of full payment, and deductibles, coinsurance, visit limits, or other out-of-pocket costs may apply.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Prenatal lactation visits can help you prepare for feeding, understand what to expect in the early days, review your health and feeding history, discuss pumps and supplies, and create a plan that reflects your goals.

Prenatal care can be especially helpful when you have had a previous feeding challenge, are expecting multiples, have a medical condition that may affect feeding, or simply want more individualized preparation.

We work with several commercial insurance plans through our billing partners. Coverage depends on the specific plan, network, location, and available benefits.

Submit an appointment request with your insurance information, and our team will help identify the appropriate next step. Self-pay care and superbills may also be available.

Your visit is individualized to your family and goals. We will listen to your concerns, review relevant feeding and health history, observe a feeding or pumping session when appropriate, and complete a clinical assessment.

Depending on your needs, the visit may include a weighted feed, latch and positioning support, oral function assessment, pumping and flange support, bottle-feeding guidance, milk-supply evaluation, or development of a realistic feeding plan.

You will receive an individualized care plan summarizing the recommendations discussed during your appointment. When appropriate and with your permission, we may also communicate with your medical providers.

Follow-up visits are available when your plan needs to be adjusted, new concerns arise, or you would benefit from continued support.

Yes. We support breastfeeding, chestfeeding, exclusive pumping, formula feeding, combination feeding, bottle feeding, supplemental feeding, and transitions between feeding methods.

Our role is to provide clinical information and individualized support without judgment. Your feeding plan should be safe, sustainable, and appropriate for your family.

Telehealth can work very well for prenatal education, pumping support, flange fitting, bottle-feeding concerns, return-to-work planning, weaning, milk-supply discussions, and many follow-up needs.

Some concerns are better assessed in person. We will help you determine whether an office visit, home visit, or telehealth appointment is the best fit.
